After the first seven matchdays of the season, Real Sociedad go into the league break following an encouraging victory at Mestalla. The opening weeks of the campaign have also produced some interesting physical performance figures worth highlighting.
According to official figures from Mediacoach, LaLiga’s official platform for technical analysis, video and match data, the txuri-urdin have established themselves among the division’s leading sides in terms of physical output during these opening weeks. The data for high-intensity distance, covering runs at over 21 km/h, puts Real Sociedad second in this category, behind only FC Barcelona and well clear of the rest. Matarazzo’s side cover an average of 7.236 kilometres per match at high intensity, with their players completing 405 sprints above that speed in each game.
The picture is similar when it comes to maximum-intensity sprints, covering distances at over 24 km/h. Once again, Real Sociedad sit second behind Barcelona, covering an average of 3.866 kilometres per match at that intensity. The 24 km/h threshold is surpassed 200 times per game.
Figures that underline the txuri-urdin’s remarkable physical capacity, particularly their ability to give everything and compete for every ball.
