Anoeta stands strong

Real Sociedad remain strong at home. The txuri urdin defeated Levante UD 2–0 this afternoon, extending their impressive home run. A first-half header from Jon Martín and a late goal from Brais Méndez secured the victory and three valuable points for the Donostia side.

The match began with two very clear chances for the hosts, both created by Mikel Oyarzabal. His first effort was tipped over the bar by Mathew Ryan, while the second struck the post. Gonçalo Guedes also tried from the edge of the box, but his shot went slightly wide. On the half-hour mark, Real took the lead from a set piece, as Martín rose powerfully to head home a corner past Ryan. The visitors had their best chance immediately after, when a left-footed strike from Tunde was just parried by Álex Remiro. Before the break, Guedes had two more good opportunities but could not convert them.

Real Sociedad started the second half with intensity. Guedes forced another save from Ryan, and Luka Sučić saw his powerful left-footed shot hit the crossbar, coming close to doubling the lead. With the score still 1–0, Levante struggled to create chances but managed a few actions that worried the home fans. Real deserved a second goal, yet the woodwork denied them again, this time from a thunderous strike by Guedes. In the final minutes, a well-worked move involving Guedes, Marín, and Brais ended with the Galician midfielder scoring the second goal, securing the win and calming Anoeta.

The victory reinforces Real Sociedad’s strength at home and keeps their optimism and positive momentum ahead of the Copa del Rey final in just two weeks.
