Another high-level test

Real Sociedad fell to a 2-1 defeat against 1. FC Köln in their second meeting in Germany, in another high-level test as pre-season nears its end. Maina struck early in a one-on-one to put the hosts ahead, but the txuri urdin hit back quickly through an own goal from Lochoshvili, after a Marchal through ball caused confusion in the Köln defence. Both sides continued to threaten but couldn't find a winner before the break. In the second half, Óskarsson went close with a header from a Sergio Gómez cross, but it was Köln who had the final say when Yacobi headed home with just over ten minutes remaining. One pre-season friendly remains, and it's a big one. Next Saturday, Real Sociedad visit Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea FC.
