Real Sociedad has not been able to start LaLiga with a victory at the Reale Arena. In the inaugural match of the season, the realistas drew 1-1 against a strong Girona side. Kubo's early goal was subsequently matched by Dovbyk's in the second half.

The final minutes were chaotic, marked by an increase in frenetic exchanges, but Real Sociedad failed to clinch a second goal despite having two very good opportunities through Le Normand's header and Olasagasti's attempt.
