Tonight, Real showed their strength and got a great win at San Mamés. Garitano’s team beat Athletic 1-3 with two goals by Oyarzabal and one goal by Sangalli in an open and unwavering match. A brilliant victory which helps Real climb up the table and fills the team with optimism for the future.
With some players unavailable, Real showed its most solid side on the pitch and were able to stop the locals from breaking the deadlock. In the 30th minute, Real was penalty awarded after Iñigo Martínez committed a foul on Sangalli. The VAR confirmed the penalty which Oyarzabal would convert giving Real the lead. Real were on the right line but unfortunately, Athletic drew through Muniain. We had very intense minutes in the first half. The score was 1-1 at the break.
The txuri-urdin team started the second half at top speed and Sangalli scored to put us front. Simply spectacular. From there, Real siege was never-ending and Athletic searched for the equalizer with all they could.
These three points are very important for us. Despite the difficulties of the last weeks, Real performed well and they did it with 9 homegrown players in the starting lineup. Now, it is time to celebrate! Aúpa Real!
