Nacho Monreal was born in Ezkirotz (Navarre) on February 26, 1986. A product of CA Osasuna's youth ranks, Monreal made his official debut for his hometown club in 2006. During his first year at the first team, he demonstrated his quality and became first-choice in 2007–08, retaining that status in the five subsequent seasons. In June 2011, Monreal signed a contract with Málaga CF, which qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals. Two years later, he joined English side Arsenal on a long-term contract. He became a key player for the English club and was named Gunners’ captain, something available to very few. His quality, ability to concentrate and versatility (he plays as a left back or centre back ) made him a key player as he made 251 appearances for Arsenal, where he left good memories. Moreover, he has played for the Spanish national team (22 appearances) and was selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
Now, he joins Real to bring his football. Experience, determination and commitment. He will strengthen a wonderful squad. Ongi etorri, welcome Nacho.
