Real continue their fine-tuning ahead of the new campaign. This afternoon, they played their last friendly in Guipúzcoa before traveling to Germany tomorrow. Asier Garitano’s team faced Deportivo Alavés in a serious game which ended with a victory for the babazorros.
In the 3rd minute, Zubeldia scored an own goal which gave Alavés the lead. In the opening minutes, Real showed authority and had clear chances. Agirretxe sent out two warnings with two headers inside the box but Alavés cleared the danger. After half an hour of play, Real equalized trough Luca Sangalli who headed the ball past Sivera and into the back of the net from cross into the box from the right flank. It went into the break 1-1.
In the second half, Alavés were soon on top again. The referee gave penalty after Borja Bastón was fouled by Gorosabel. Bastón scored Alavés’ second of the game. Again, Real put in a great performance with Juanmi, Willian José, Pardo and Héctor Hernández trying their luck. However, they could not find the back of the net. Real tried to break through the babazorros until the end, but they could not find a way. At the end of the match, Real was penalty awarded and Juanmi was close to breaking the deadlock but the forward was not accurate and Real came away with a defeat.
