It looked like La Real were going to take the win, but Real Betis levelled up the match to take a point at the Reale Arena in stoppage time. Isak and Oyarzabal put us front but Joaquín scored a last-minute equalizer to give Betis a point.
This was the first of the two games that realistas and béticos must play in three days. Real had a great start to the match. The txuri urdin dominated the game and the first chance came with a shot from Guridi, kept out by Joel. Pellegrini’s side did not force Remiro into action.
The txuri urdin went all out in the second half with Isak opening the scoring in the 3rd. The Swedish fired home and there was nothing Joel could do to deny it. La Real were attacking the opposition box with increased regularity and the second goal arrived as Oyarzabal finished off a swift counter led by Isak. 2-0. It looked as though La Real had the points wrapped up. The txuri urdin had chances to extend their advantage but Gorosabel and Portu were unable to capitalize on their chances. Then, Canales reduced the arrears for the visitors with a powerful header (85’). From then on, Betis went all out in search of the equaliser. Joaquín did indeed get the goal and La Real had not time to react.
The txuri urdin deserved the win but missed out the win in the dying minutes. It was all square at the Reale Arena with just three days to go until the Spanish Copa del Rey in Seville. Aupa Real!!
