Atotxa, 1975. Liverpool FC, one of the greatest teams in world football, came to San Sebastián. And that day, our most iconic legend was ‘born’. This October marks fifty years since Luis Arconada made his debut for Real Sociedad — the start of an extraordinary career that would see him play 551 official matches for the first team. Over those years, the football world came to admire our beloved goalkeeper, rightly recognising him as one of the greatest in the history of the game — a status he still holds to this day.
To celebrate this very special anniversary, the club will pay tribute to Arconada throughout the entire 25-26 season. All of Real Sociedad’s goalkeepers — men’s and women’s — will wear kits inspired by those that Luis Arconada himself made unforgettable. We remember him leading the team, soaring through the air, thrilling the fans and lifting trophies. In blue, in orange, in green. And always, with his iconic white socks.
