Real come away with no reward as they fell to RCD Espanyol 2-0 and finish 9th in the LaLiga. The txuri urdin failed to capitalise this opportunity and RCD Espanyol is the team that will play Europa League next season.
The game was very even from the beginning. Eyes kept on Seville, both teams needed this win. There were not clear chances in the first half. Llorente’s header went wide and a powerful header by Lei Wu hit the post. Sevilla scored before the break but we were 0-0 at half-time.
Real went all out in the second half. Willian José could have scored our first but Diego López denied him. A goal would be pure gold and Real went in search of the back of Espanyol’s net in earnest. The game at Seville continued 1-0 and the goal came. However, it was the local team who scored. In the 58th minute, Rosales found the back of the net and Real were unable to react since in the 66th minute Lei Wu scored the second and sentenced the game.
This is the end of an irregular season in which Real had chances to the very last matchday. There are positive aspects which it would be unfair not to stress, but we must also recognize that certain aspects need to be corrected. We look forward to the forthcoming season with great excitement and enthusiasm. Aúpa Real!
