Tonight, Real Drew 2-2 against Rayo Vallecano at Anoeta. Our squad was the first to score in the first half, but the visiting team recovered and scored twice before Real could even attempt to fight back to at least earn one point. Once again, the long-awaited victory on our home ground slipped through our fingers.
The start of the match was very promising for the txuri urdin team. Assisted by Sangalli, Bautista shot from the right side of the box and sent the ball right behind Alberto. He tried to score again not long after, but the attempt was futile. After the thirty-minute mark, the match took a turn for the worse when Advincula first and then Trejo scored and Rayo Vallecano took the lead. The squad had suddenly lost control over the match and Real was behind, so it was essential to get back into the game.
In the second half, our game was not as effective as we had wished, but the team fought hard and was rewarded with the second goal, a header by Willian José. With only ten minutes left to the final whistle, we did our best to score again and earn the three points, but fortune was not on our side.
Tonight’s draw feels bittersweet. The much-awaited victory at Anoeta will have to wait. Saturday will bring a new match and new opportunities against Valencia. Go Real!
