Mikel Merino is our new txuri-urdin player. The midfielder knows how to read the game, he has key passes and great physical abilities. He will bring greater value to the txuri-urdin team.
Mikel Merino was born in Pamplona on June 22, 1996. He is just 22 years old. Merino began his career with CA Osasuna where he made his first team’s debut on August 23, 2014, in Segunda División. During his second season as a rojillo he became a key player and helped the team promote to First Division.
Thus, in the summer of 2016, Merino signed a deal with Borussia Dortmund. He played 9 games for the German team and next summer he joined Newcastle United on a season-long loan. Last October, the club agreed to a clause obligating them to sign the player permanently. He has played 25 games for the British team.
Merino was part of the Spain under-19 team which won the 2015 UEFA European Championship. He is now at Real Sociedad to produce quality work in the txuri-urdin midfield.
