Real Sociedad's Women's team new coach

La Real Sociedad and Gonzalo Arconada have reached an agreement. From now on, the coach from Donostia will train the women’s team. Arconada has signed a three-year contract at the headquarters of Anoeta. After that, he has visited Zubieta, where he has met the girls and has seen the training session. Gorka Álvarez, Ander Ruiz and Ekaitz Etxebeste will remain part of the technical staff as Assistant Coach, Goalkeeper’s Coach and Fitness Coach respectively.


Wide experience

Gonzalo Arconada (Donostia, 1961) is a highly experienced coach. He started his coaching career at Danak and later he worked for Real Unión, Tolosa, Beasain or Sanse, where he trained for five years before becoming the coach of the first team. Then, he worked for Burgos, Numancia, Almería, Tenerife, Mirandés, Jaén and Barakaldo. Now, he faces a new challenge which is being the team lead of the women’s team.

The new txuri-urdin coach stated that “ I am very excited about this new challenge. I must get used to women’s football but I’m very happy to be back at la Real. This club is part of my life and I’m thankful for the opportunity. I am here to learn, help and cooperate as much as possible. My objective is to make the most of the players, I want each of them to give their best”.

Garbiñe Etxeberria, sports director, said: “We were not thinking about this but we base on the results. We want an experienced coach who help us improve every day both emotionally and footballing”.
