Hondarribia is set to host the seventh edition of the prestigious international women's football tournament, TXIMIST CUP, from June 16th to 24th.
Seven years after its inception in tribute to Juan Carlos Samaniego 'TXIMIST,' the former fitness coach and rehabilitator of Real Sociedad, this esteemed tournament has seen the participation of over 6,000 footballers from around the world.
In addition to the Real Sociedad's youth female teams in the U17 and U14 categories, renowned international clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Sweden's Malmö FF, Atlético de Madrid, and Israel's Kiryat Gat, among other top clubs from major European leagues, will be participating.
The 'Legends' category, scheduled for June 24th, will mark a historic day for women's football in the Basque Country as four prominent and historical teams, Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Oiartzun KE, and Añorga KKE, will go head-to-head. It promises to be the perfect finale for a top-level tournament.
During the tournament celebration, and also promoted by the Tximist Foundation, various activities will take place, such as inflatables, raffles of jerseys from participating clubs, giveaways, a solidarity meal in the fight against cancer, and a paella feast.
