Victory continues to elude the Reale Arena. This evening, in a match that turned sour early, Real Sociedad fell 1-3 to Villarreal just before the crucial Copa del Rey encounter.

The game kicked off with a promising opportunity for Real Sociedad, as Brais' header was cleared off the goal line by the visiting defense. Soon after, Comesaña secured the lead for Villarreal with a headed goal from a corner kick. The txuri urdin had another good chance to score, but Moreno prevented Traoré's close-range shot after a good cross from Galán.

The second half had the worst possible start, as Comesaña capitalized on a defensive mistake, extending Villarreal's lead. Despite the efforts of Imanol's team, they couldn't reduce the deficit until late in the game when Merino scored in a triple opportunity. In the final moments of the match, Sorloth put the game to bed in a counterattack.
