Real have recorded their first home league win of the season after beating Getafe 3-0 at the Reale Arena. The goals by Oyarzabal, Merino and Portu give the txuri urdin all three points.
The team from Madrid are not an easy side but Real were very effective and superior to the visitors. From the beginning, Real tried to protect the defence and create goal scoring chances, which they did. Merino shot from inside the box but his strike hit a defender. Before the 30th minute, Portu tried his luck but his shot hit Olivera’s hand. Penalty. Then, Mikel Oyarzabal showed his usual mastery and scored the first goal of the match in his 200th official game for Real. The realistas had the lead over Getafe at the break.
The second half was more even. Getafe grew into the game whereas Real were very fast in attack. The hosts were creating danger and getting close to a second goal. Oyarzabal enjoyed a chance but his shot was just wide. The second goal came from a dead ball. Merino walked through on a set-piece to put Real up 2-0. Two minutes later, Portu secured the three points with a perfect chip.
A fair and satisfactory win. The first home win of the season at the Reale Arena leaves a good taste in our mouths. Now, the squad will recharge batteries during the international break. Aupa Real!
