Real Sociedad claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Villarreal CF tonight at the Reale Arena, with a stunning goal from Take shortly after the break proving decisive.
The first half was a balanced affair with limited chances. La Real showed more intent but struggled to threaten Villarreal’s goal. The visitors’ best chance came from a quick exchange between Gueye and Barry, with the latter’s effort narrowly missing the mark. Sučić’s long-range attempt for the hosts also missed the target, leaving the game goalless at halftime.
The second half couldn’t have started better for the txuri-urdin. Oyarzabal sent a long ball to Take, who delivered a moment of magic to put Real ahead. He sprinted past Parejo, outwitted Kiko Femenía, and fired a magnificent left-footed shot into the far corner. A goal of pure class. Villarreal nearly responded through Gerard Moreno on the counter, but Remiro came up with a crucial save.
The txuri-urdin dug deep in the final moments to preserve their lead, even missing an opportunity to extend it in stoppage time when Óskarsson couldn’t finish a counterattack. A heroic effort secured a vital win.
This important victory inches Real Sociedad closer to European spots and sets the tone for what promises to be a strong year at home. Next up: a Copa del Rey clash against Rayo Vallecano on Thursday at the Reale Arena. Aupa Real!
