City Hall

Welcomed by the Mayor

The YUWA NGO expedition was received by Eneko Goia, Mayor of San Sebastián, at the local city hall. It was a simple and emotional event, in which the young players and their coaches had the chance to visit the building.

The delegation was headed by Nekane Soria, one of the club directors, Real Sociedad Fundazioa director Andoni Iraola and Idurre Altuna, director of Colegio Mayor Olarain halls of residence, who accompanied the members of YUWA throughout the visit. Different groups were also present, like the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastián, Donosti Cup and Autocares David.

The expedition, invited by Sociedad Fundazioa and Olarain, arrived in San Sebastián last Friday and since then they have been enjoying unforgettable experiences in the Gipuzkoa capital. For example, last Saturday they attended the Real Sociedad first team training at Anoeta and then, on Sunday, they were back at the stadium for the match against Real Madrid and they were welcomed at the authorities’ box. There are still many great experiences ahead. Their schedule is full of activities, so they won’t only get to know Real Sociedad, but they’ll also have time to visit the city, different places of interest and museums, or even practice different sports, like rowing, thanks to the Hibaika female rowing team.

The purpose of this initiative of Real Sociedad Fundazioa and Colegio Mayor Olarain is to give better tools to these children so they can improve their own football programmes once they go back to their country. This way, they can develop faster and attract a higher number of girls, so that they can become masters of their own destiny.
