It was the best way to start the tribute. La Real beat CD Leganés 3-2 in a match in which Xabi prieto and Carlos Martínez bid farewell to Anoeta. The final touch to an emotional goodbye.
There were two objectives today. First, to win the match. Second, to do it for Xabi and Carlos. Objective achieved. It was an entertaining game. La Real started well, they set out wanting to play and keep hold of the ball. La Real created the first chance of the game but Juanmi’s header went wide. Later, we went ahead with two goals from Oyarzabal and Canales. With la Real having the better of the game, the pepineros scored before the break. It was Diego Rico who reduced the arrears for the visitors.
The game slowed in the second half. Leganés added the second trough Guerrero just after the break. There were not more scoring chances and the game became less intense. Ten minutes before the final whistle, la Real were penalty awarded after Juanmi was fouled by Unai Bustinza. Willian José made no mistake and made it 3-2 to la Real.
And this is how the season ends at Anoeta. A special day. We will be back in September and we will have a new home. Carlos and Xabi will not be there. Well, they will, because players like them will be forever in our hearts. Aúpa Real!
