Real Sociedad’s Women’s team were beaten by three goals to one in today’s visit to CD Tacón. The Guipuzcoanas were not at their best on the day and were trailing for most of the game.
The home side started the game at a frenetic pace which unsettled the txuri urdin during the opening minutes. After an early warning with a shot which was just off-target, the hosts took the lead through a direct free-kick taken by Jessika Martínez. Real Sociedad struggled to respond but after half an hour in which they hardly threatened Tacón’s goal, Kiana came close to levelling with a header which flew inches wide. Just before half-time, the txuri urdin attack took advantage of a rebound to level the score.
When play resumed, once again Tacón made the most of their strong start to restore their lead. It came from a goal mouth scramble with Ubogagu firing in the decisive strike. Once again it was a question of mounting a comeback. Nerea came close to an equaliser but her effort was cleared off the line by the madrileñas. The txuri urdin tried right up the final whistle but without success. The locals defended well and put the game beyond reach when Jakobsson made it 3-1 in the dying minutes.
Next week, we are back at Zubieta – a good opportunity to make amends. The txuri urdin play host to Rayo Vallecano and will be attempting to return to the positive sensations of previous weeks. Aurrera Reala!
