The realistas were the better side in the first half. However, the visitors were the team who had the clearest chances. A shot from Piatti and an effort by Lucas forced the twenty-four thousand fans at the Reale Arena to hold their breath. Imanol’s side had the control of the game and offered good sensations but weren't clinical enough in front of goal.
La Real crushed Elche in the second half. It was difficult to create clear chances in the first half but it has been impossible to achieve it after the break. Oyarzabal tried his luck on two occasions but was unable to finish off his great work. The txuri urdin had the chance to open the scoring again moments later but Lobete sent his shot wide. La Real continued to press up high but Elche had a chance to open the scoring with a strike that was kept out by Remiro. Ten minutes before the final whistle, a huge slice of bad luck in the visitors’ defense saw Oyarzabal pouncing, controlling and dribbling Castilla to make it 1-0.
