VILLARREAL CF 2-0 REAL SOCIEDAD

Effectiveness matters

La Real came back empty handed from Villarreal despite playing a good game and being better than the locals. But soccer is all about scoring and the txuri urdin were unsuccessful in the many chances they had, something that the Yellows took advantage from. Two goals in the last fifteen minutes condemned the realistas to defeat.

From the opening whistle, the match was wide open. Back and forth, the chances soon arrived, one after the other. Morales, with a left-footed cross, Kubo, with a shot rejected by Reina, and Sorloth, with a good header, were the first dangerous actions of the game. In a game without control, the high tempo of the ball indicated that the game was played much closer to the penalty area than in the middle of the pitch. Just before the break, in a fine individual move, Morales could have opened the scoring with his left foot, but he sent the ball over.

La Real had a great start to the second half. Kubo, Zubimendi and Merino created good chances that deserved better results. The goal seemed close, but the txuri urdin did not manage to finish. Imanol's men were far superior, but in a personal move by Chukwueze, the attacker caused a penalty that Parejo convered to put the home team ahead. It was not fair, but... A few minutes later, Jackson added the second to put the game to bed.

La Real deserved much more but did not score and had to paid for it. Aurrera, Reala!
