End of a season for the history books

The fifth consecutive season securing a spot in Europe concluded with a 0-2 defeat in this afternoon's match against Atlético de Madrid. The objective had already been achieved, and today's result doesn't diminish a campaign that has thrilled fand provided magnificent experiences to a fanbase that continues to enjoy every moment.

The match started with an aggressive Atlético, who quickly took the lead with a goal from Lino. Real Sociedad responded and nearly equalized with a header from Becker, which Griezmann cleared almost off the line. Just before halftime, Brais executed a beautiful chip over Oblak, but the defense cleared it just before it crossed the line. In stoppage time, Remiro made a fantastic save from a Llorente shot.

In the second half, Real Sociedad came out all guns blazing and created a good opportunity through Becker, whose shot was blocked by the defense. Chances emerged at both ends, first with a left-footed strike from Take that Oblak sent to the corner, followed by another excellent save by Remiro from Llorente. Real Sociedad pressed hard and deserved an equalizer, but it never came. In the final play of the match, during a counterattack, Reinildo scored the second for Atlético to put the game to bed. 

This is the end of a season to remember. The performances across Europe will stay in the memories of Real Sociedad fans for a long time. Let's celebrate together. See you in August. We are Real.
