REAL SOCIEDAD 0-0 RC CELTA DE VIGO

Honours even at Anoeta

Real Sociedad were held to a draw by Celta de Vigo at Anoeta. The txuri-urdin were the better side in the first half but were unable to make their chances count, while Celta grew into the game after the break to deny the hosts all three points.

The opening forty-five minutes belonged to Real Sociedad. They dominated possession and created several dangerous opportunities, the clearest of which came just past the quarter-hour mark when Oyarzabal’s shot was parried by Radu, only for Kubo to send the rebound wide with the goal at his mercy. Celta’s best chance of the half fell to Moriba, whose effort from the edge of the box was comfortably dealt with by Remiro.

The second half was a different story. Real Sociedad struggled to find a way through Celta’s five-man defensive line and were unable to reproduce the fluency they had shown before the break. Guedes appealed for a penalty but his claims were waved away, while at the other end Remiro produced an important save to deny Aspas from close range following Celta’s best move of the match.

A point that feels more like two dropped than one gained, although perhaps a fair reflection of the game. Next up, the txuri-urdin travel to the Martínez Valero on Monday.
