REAL MADRID 4-1 REAL SOCIEDAD

End of the streak

La Real saw their streak halted after a 4–1 loss at the Santiago Bernabéu. Two penalties, which would hardly have been given in the opposite box, helped pave the way for the home side’s victory.

Real Madrid went ahead with their first opportunity thanks to Rodrygo. Oyarzabal equalised from the spot after Huijsen fouled Herrera, yet soon after another debatable penalty was awarded and Vinícius converted. Valverde then made it 3–1, leaving the txuri urchin in a difficult position.

Right at the start of the second half, the referee awarded another of those penalties and Vinícius made it four. Marín nearly scored after a brilliant solo run but could not find the net. Jon Martín and Aihen also had two clear chances, both denied by Courtois. In the closing stages, the txuri-urdin improved their performance but, with such a large deficit, were unable to close the gap or truly trouble the hosts.

The streak comes to an end at a difficult venue. Time to turn the page, take a breath and focus on what comes next.
