REAL SOCIEDAD 2-1 RCD ESPANYOL

Inspiring

Real Sociedad secured a hard-fought victory over RCD Espanyol, who nearly leveled the score until the final moments of the match. A late goal from Brais Méndez sealed the win for the team, providing not only a much-needed break from their recent league struggles but also a boost to keep their hopes alive for a European spot.

The match got off to an ideal start when, just before the first minute was up, Sučić delivered a cross from the left that allowed Becker to score the opening goal with a precise shot near the post. Soon after, the txuri urdin had another great chance to add to their tally with an impressive solo run by Sučić, but he was unable to convert against Joan García, who made a vital save with his foot to deny the txuri urdin player. The first half saw little more action, lacking in overall excitement.

In the second half, the visitors quickly leveled the score with a controversial 'soft penalty' converted by Puado. Real Sociedad was forced to step up their game, allowing Espanyol a few dangerous counter-attacks. From that point on, Real took control and created several chances, including a clear volley from Aramburu inside the box that sailed over the bar. As the match grew more challenging, Aguerd delivered a cross from the wing, which Olasagasti controlled at the edge of the small area before Brais gently lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to secure the win for Imanol’s side in a hard-fought game.

These three points are a delightful boost, providing a breath of fresh air in LaLiga and restoring some momentum after a series of disappointing results. A good result to face what’s ahead with a better outlook and optimism. We are Real.
