It was not enough

La Real lost the opportunity to get the award at the end of the season. The blanquiazules lost 1-0 at the Sánchez Pizjuán in a match in which they lacked power to get a good result. It has been a good match, but not good enough to go back home happy.

The local team came out fired-up and pushing hard. The hispalenses came out strong but the hosts did not pose a threat for the txuri-urdin team, that stood strong. Sarabia had a chance to convert but Moyá made a stunning save. The donostiarras felt comfortable on the pitch, electric, aware of the importance of the game. Imanol’s team showed off their offensive ability as the game went on. A header by Januzaj and Oyarzabal’s left shot from inside the box spread fear at the Sánchez Pizjuán. In the 45th minute, Moyá made a miraculous save to stop Sandro’s shot.

The game did not look bad but the start to the second condemned the txuri-urdin team. Llorente committed a foul on Sandro and Sevilla was penalty awarded. Ever Banega got the opening goal from 11 yards. This result was not good enough for la Real, which showed no sign of letting up. However, they were not able to find an equaliser- Bautista with another chance and a possible Real penalty. There were some clear-cut chances, but no luck up front. There are two games now remaining and Real must do their best.
