La Real has lost 1-0 against Atlético de Madrid, current champions of La Liga Iberdrola, in a game where both goalkeepers did their jobs to prevent the score to be any higher.
The first dangerous move of the game came from La Real. Eizaguirre’s crossing from the left was deflected by Atlético’s defence and hit the crossbar. From that moment onwards, the home team had more chances to get ahead on the scoresheet. Ludmila was close to finding the back of the net a couple of times, but Mariasun’s reflexes denied her. The realista goalkeeper was very sharp during the most complicated moments of the first half. There were more thrills after the break. After yet another clearance by Mariasun, the loose ball was then shot to the post by Atlético. Soon after that, it was La Real’s turn to scare the home team, with shots by Nahikari and Zornoza. With only 15 minutes to go, Sosa’s shot inside the penalty box turned into the only goal of the game for Atlético. The txuri-urdin did not give up and tried to make it even until the bitter end, but could not level the score. There will be no league games next week due to international competition and, in two week’s time, the realistas will host FC Barcelona, another tough nut to crack.

“Sad, but happy about my player’s attitude"
Juanjo Arregui was sad about the result but happy about his players’ attitude. “We had prepared this match to the last detail. I want to emphasize my team’s workrate. These things happen sometimes, so nothing to say about the kind of work they put in. We’re disappointed and feel a bit unlucky about not taking a point with us but we also know that we’ve been facing the beginning of La Liga with the right attitude”.
