This week, groundsmen started working on the installation of a new turf at the Reale Arena. In order to optimize the condition of pitch, the txuri urdin club started to replace the old turf last Monday. The new surface installation started yesterday.
There will be two stages in the process:
PHASE 1- Turf removal and replacement
On Monday and Tuesday, the old turf will be removed and if the weather permits, groundsmen will begin to level and lay the new turf on Wednesday. It is expected that this installation will be in perfect condition for Saturday. The new turf comes from the company Tapiz Verde (Cáceres, Spain) and will be laid by the company Laziturri, corporation responsible for the maintenance of all the Zubieta pitchs and the Reale Arena. The new surface will be all set for the game vs SD Eibar on November 30.
PHASE 2- Sisgrass hybrid pitch installation
Once the match vs SD Eibar has been played, the final hybrid pitch will be installed. Hybrid grass is natural turf reinforced with polyethylene fibres, installed with injection technology. The company in charge of the installation is SIS PITCHES (Great Britain) and the work will be done in 9 or 10 days, from 2 to 10 December. The new pitch will be in perfect condition for the clash against FC Barcelona on December 14.
