"Real Sociedad has been very special to me"

A few years after clinching two LaLiga titles, Real Sociedad faced a challenging period — one they ultimately overcame, as always, thanks to the invaluable guidance of John Benjamin Toshack. Under the revolution brought by the Welsh coach, the txuri urdin returned to glory, came close to a domestic double, and reclaimed their spot among the elite of Spanish football.

Ahead of his tribute on Saturday, where he will receive the Gold and Diamonds Badge, the club’s second-most capped coach welcomed Real Sociedad TV to his home in Girona, just outside Besalú. There, he recalled some of his most remarkable moments at “the best place I’ve ever been.” A true genius on the pitch… and still a master off it.
