As expected, the match lacked fluidity and scoring opportunities. The first clear chance arrived past the half-hour mark when Kubo's run down the right ended with a pull-back that neither Sergio Gómez nor Oyarzabal could finish. From there, La Real loosened up and managed to approach the rival box with greater ease. Oyarzabal, attempting to convert a cross from Kubo, failed to direct his header accurately, and David Soria managed to save the shot despite some difficulty. Another similar chance came just before halftime, when Zubeldia’s header was tipped over the bar by Soria.
In the second half, Imanol's side struggled to create chances or get near Soria's area. The visitors, on the other hand, made the most of their first opportunity and doubled their lead just two minutes later. Despite Real Sociedad's efforts, including a header from Óskarsson straight into Soria's hands, they failed to capitalize. In the final minutes, Getafe added another goal. Uche and Carles Pérez, the latter scoring twice, sealed the victory for the visitors.
