Real Sociedad had to settle for a draw against UD Las Palmas in a high-paced, back-and-forth match lacking overall control. The hosts arguably deserved more, particularly after dominating much of the second half.
The game began with intensity from both sides. Las Palmas created the first clear chances: Mata’s one-on-one effort was denied by Remiro, and Moleiro’s shot was also saved by the Real Sociedad goalkeeper. The home side replied with two excellent opportunities of their own—Oyarzabal’s strike rattled the crossbar, and Sergio’s left-footed shot narrowly missed the target.
In the second half, Las Palmas came close again as Sandro hit the crossbar in a chance reminiscent of Oyarzabal’s earlier effort. Immediately after coming on, Barrene tested Cillesen twice with powerful left-footed shots that forced the goalkeeper into action. Real Sociedad gained control and pushed hard to break the deadlock. A well- executed counterattack led to a double chance, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Despite their dominance and determination, the txuri-urdin were unable to secure the victory.
The draw halts Real Sociedad’s winning streak but adds another valuable point as they continue their league campaign. We are Real.
