It’s been six years and a half since Carlos Vela arrived in San Sebastián. And now it is time to say goodbye to the txuri-urdin fans. As he says, it won’t be a “goodbye”, simply a “see you later” because la Real will always be in his heart. He took la Real to top and he put down roots here: his girlfriend, his son and his friends will be part of his life project. Two days before playing his 250 game in the txuri-urdin shirt he had a chat with Real Sociedad TV. Gratitude, satisfaction, emotion and touching words. Eskerrik asko, Carlos. Thank you, Carlos!
Carlos Vela:
“I had an amazing welcome here. I had feelings that I have never felt in other places”.
“The Basque culture is different. It took time to gain people’s trust but later, they gave me everything”.
“There have been difficult times but I also take them with me. That makes me a better person”.
“I feel that I have helped the team. They needed to save themselves when I arrived and now they are in a good position. They have a good future ahead and that is very satisfying”.
“My girlfriend and son are Basque. My family project started here. I know that I will be back and that we will keep in touch”.
“San Sebastian is an incredible city”.
“I wanted to start a new adventure and be closer to my country. This is the project I was looking for”.
“I would like to win on my farewell match”
“My son will come back here because I want him to feel what I have felt here”.
“I just want to say thank you so, so much to everybody. La Real will always be in my heart”.
