La Real took their first point of the season after a 0-0 draw with Espanyol. The girls deserved to win but they lacked a bit of luck.
The team of Gorka Álvarez took the lead of the match. Leire Baños could have scored the first goal but it went wide. The local team, which is the fourth classified on la Liga Iberdrola, didn’t have scoring opportunities.
Soon after the second half began, Nahikari was close to score with a header that was saved by the Espanyol keeper. On that half of the game, the team from Barcelona didn’t create any threat thanks to the tight defense of the visiting team. For the first time during this season, Mariasun didn’t have much work to do. At the end of the match, Zornoza was close to score and give Real the win but her shot went wide.
The txuri-urdin players did their best today. They did just about enough to merit victory. Taking one point is something positive, the opponent was difficult and they ended the spell of bad luck. Next Sunday they will face Rayo Vallecano at Zubieta.
