The realistas dominated the first half and enjoyed a wealth of opportunities. However, Asenjo made good saves. He denied both Monreal and Isak but the txuri urdin goal was close. The second half really couldn't have got off to a better start and with 60 minutes on the clock, the visitors hit the front. Willian José headed in the opener with a cross from a corner kick. The game increased in intensity and before Villarreal reacted, the side from San Sebastián had another chance through Zubeldia. Nonetheless, his shot was saved by Asenjo. In the 75th minute, Llorente doubled Real’s lead after a corner kick. But then, true to form, Cazorla reduced the arrears for the hosts five minutes before the final whistle and Real suffered until the last minute.
