REAL MADRID 2-1 REAL SOCIEDAD

Lost lead

Good matches don't usually yield rewards at the Bernabéu. They must be nearly perfect to achieve something positive. Tonight, the txuri urdin played well, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Real Madrid 2-1 after being overturned in the second half.

The start of the match was electrifying. Real reached Kepa’s goal and in their first dangerous opportunity and managed to take the lead. Kubo delivered a ball into the area, and Barrene, arriving from behind, beat the local goalkeeper. Then, the Japanese player scored a magnificent goal from outside the box, but it was disallowed for an offside position by Oyarzabal. The Whites also had good chances to equalize, but neither Joselu nor Rodrygo could find the net against an unstoppable Remiro. Real continued to play excellently and had many opportunities. Kubo delivered a precise cross to Merino, who, with a header, came very close to adding a second but this time, Kepa thwarted the Navarrese's chance by sending the ball for a corner. It was a brilliant first half.

Just after the restart, Real Madrid equalized with a goal from Valverde. A powerful shot from outside the box, impossible for Remiro to save. After a quarter of an hour, and although Real had recovered from the equalizer, the Whites turned the score around with a header from Joselu. From then on, Real were unable to generate many opportunities, despite maintaining possession.

It could have been three, but the realistas took one point from their visit to the Bernabéu.  Now, onto the Champions League. Go, Real!
