Real Sociedad missed the chance to move up the table, stumbling this afternoon at the Reale Arena against Mallorca. Two unfortunate goals by the visitors condemned Imanol’s side to a defeat that complicates their European aspirations.
The match began without much intensity in either box. Oyarzabal had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside, and shortly after, a turnover in midfield led to Mallorca’s opener—an unfortunate own goal by Aramburu. It was the worst possible scenario against a compact and disruptive opponent that quickly slowed the pace of the game. La Real struggled to find rhythm and failed to show their best version before the break.
The second half couldn’t have started worse, as Mallorca scored again to make the comeback extremely difficult—not just due to the scoreline, but because Real Sociedad struggled to generate danger in attack and couldn’t find ways to break down the visitors’ defense. In the last twenty minutes, driven by frustration and pride, Real created a couple of chances—most notably a header from Martín after a corner—but it wasn’t enough.
A bitter day. A painful stumble. Seven finals remain. Now, more than ever, we must push forward.
We are Real.
