The derby is txuri-urdin. La Real were superior to Athletic Club and won 3-1 in a match in which the realistas beat the visitors in every aspect. A goal by Oyarzábal and two own goals by San José gave the donostiarras the three points.
La Real were incredible today. They dominated the play, they had possession of the ball and created the chances. After Llorente’s header, the rojiblancos scored their first own goal. San José held his head in his hands and put the ball past his own goal. La Real were having the better of the game and with some luck, they were in front. The rojiblancos were timidly on the attack and were putting a lot of effort but didn’t create much danger. The donostiarras continued doing well and made every minute on the pitch count. Then, Adnan Januzaj directed the ball squarely in the box and Mikel Oyarzábal netted with a left-footed strike. 2-0 and Anoeta enjoying the party. We could have recorded a better result before the break but Navas’ shot hit the post. Llorente was put through on goal but his strike went wide.
The start to the second left us a goal identical to the first one. Canales crossed the ball into the box from the free kick and San José scored an own goal. 3-0. The game was decided but Athletic never accepts defeat. Raúl García reduced the arrears for the visitors after Athletic was penalty awarded. The team from Bilbao raised their spirits and had another chance when Williams’ header hit the post. After some stressful minutes, la Real were back on the game and the match was quite a peaceful affair. However, it was definitely louder in the last minutes. Pardo was sent off and this caused great tension at the end of a serious, intense and attractive game. In short, a derby.
This is a deserved victory that leaves options open for the three remaining games. We will have to fight until the end, until the last second of LaLiga. But now it is time to celebrate! Aúpa Real!
