La Real has been knocked out of the Copa del Rey. The txuri urdin fell to a superb Betis that completed a very solvent and effective match. Bad night for the txuri urdin.
It was expected to be an even match, played on equal terms. The side from Seville started the match a little better than the realistas, they had more possession and managed to take the lead after twelve minutes with a goal by Juanmi. First chance and goal. La Real responded with Oyarzabal’s effort from the edge of the area that Rui Silva sent to a corner. It took the home side a while to get into the game whereas Betis were pressing very well. Nevertheless, Imanol’s side got better and better as the minutes went by. On minute 30, Le Normand headed to the top of the post from a corner kick. La Real deserved to score the equalizer, which they did. However, it was ruled out by the VAR for a millimetre offside. Just before the break, Remiro put in a great performance with a brilliant save to deny a close-range shot by Fakir.
Just after the break, la Real had an unbeatable chance. Isak had everything in his favor to score, but his shot was saved by Rui Silva. As the saying goes, he who forgives ends the quarrel. Juanmi scored again to multiply the difficulty of reaching the semifinals. In the final minutes, goals by Willian José and Ruibal sealed the win for Betis. La Real were not even lucky, as Portu hit the post in the last chance of the match.
Eliminated in the quarterfinals. Pity. Now, we must focus on LaLiga and Europa League. Aupa, Real!
