RCD MALLORCA 1-0 REAL SOCIEDAD

Defeat at Son Moix

Real Sociedad leaves Mallorca empty-handed after a disappointing match in which the Txuri-Urdin fell to a first-half penalty. The team remains far from their best form, and the start to the league campaign has not been as expected.

The opening half was short on chances, with both sides struggling to break through, as defenses held the upper hand. The visitors’ lone opportunity came when Barrene found himself one-on-one with the Mallorca keeper but failed to convert. Around the 30-minute mark, a handball by Barrene led to a penalty, which Abdón calmly slotted home, putting the hosts ahead. Real Sociedad needed to raise their game in the second half to avoid a defeat.

Despite a promising start after the break, Real struggled to create clear chances. Mallorca, comfortable with their lead, defended deep and looked dangerous on the counter. In the final ten minutes, Imanol's side pushed hard, forcing Mallorca back and creating a few opportunities—shots from Óskarsson and Sučić from the edge of the box—but they couldn't find the net.

A flat performance from the Donostiarras led to a defeat that hinders their desired start to the season. They'll aim to turn things around in their next match on Saturday in Pucela.
