Real Sociedad secured their first win of the season in tonight's game in Barcelona. The Txuri Urdin emerged victorious (1-0) thanks to a late goal by Take Kubo in a tightly contested match. Imanol’s squad made the most of their limited scoring chances to claim all three points.
Espanyol began the match with intensity, creating early opportunities that energized the crowd at the RCDE Stadium. However, the team from San Sebastián gradually took control of possession. Despite struggling to create clear-cut chances, they settled into the game better. The best opportunities for the visitors in a balanced first half came from a Sergio Gómez free-kick, which was saved by the goalkeeper, and a left-footed shot from Turrientes that went over the bar.
In the second half, Imanol's team came out strong, but a counter-attack from the home side, where Veliz missed a key chance against Remiro, disrupted Real Sociedad’s momentum. In the closing minutes, Take Kubo, who had just come on, secured the win for the Basque side with a brilliant solo effort. The Japanese player dribbled through several defenders and scored with a powerful, precise shot.
This victory helps to move past the disappointment of the first matchday and brings a positive outlook for the future. Next up is a home game on Wednesday against Deportivo Alavés. We are Real.
