Real Sociedad faced Deportivo Alavés at the Reale Arena in their third match of the season, suffering a 1-2 defeat largely due to Mikel Oyarzabal's red card.

The first half was fiercely competitive, with both teams having some clear chances. Oyarzabal received a red card in the 29th minute after a VAR review for a tough tackle. Despite this setback, Real Sociedad went ahead in the 33rd minute with a brilliant cross from Sergio Gómez, which Brais Méndez converted into a goal. However, just before halftime, Asier Villalibre equalized for Alavés with a penalty awarded for a foul in the box.

The second half remained tightly contested with limited opportunities for either team. In the 77th minute, T. Martinez scored for Alavés with a well-placed shot after a precise pass, giving the visitors the lead. Real Sociedad pushed hard in the final moments but couldn’t find the equalizer.

This defeat marks a challenging setback for the Donostia side. They will now look ahead to their next match against Getafe on Sunday at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
