La Real Sociedad clinched a point at the Pizjuán, but this draw leaves a bittersweet taste. The txuri urdin drew 0-0 against Sevilla in a match in which they had very clear chances to win. A bittersweet point.
The realistas came out all guns blazing right from the first whistle. With personality and authority, they took control of the match against a Sevilla side that could not get rid of the realistas’ dominance. The txuri urdin didn’t trouble Dmitrovic, but got close to the Sevilla box. La Real set the pace in the first half as Imanol’s men dominated possession, but didn’t produce the first dangerous move until a wonderful piece of skill by Sorloth on the left wing was our first chance to open the scoring. However, the ball hit Portu and la Real missed its chance to take the lead.
The side from Andalusia played better in the second half. They pressed well whereas the side from San Sebastián found it difficult to work their way out eventually. La Real sought to capitalise on set pieces and Le Normand was close to add the first on a cross by Januzaj. From then on, la Real gave their all out on the pitch and enjoyed a glut of chances, including Portu and Silva’s efforts which didn’t find the back of the net. Real clearly deserved to score a goal. The magician’s header cannoned back off the crossbar after Januzaj almost broke the deadlock. In the final minutes, the hosts played at a very high tempo but the txuri urdin performed well in defense.
A draw that leaves a bad taste. It is not a bad result, but we missed the opportunity to clinch all the three points. La Real is still in the European fight and very well positioned. It’s time to recharge our batteries, rest up and go out and show that in the final games. Aupa, Real!
