Onto the round of 16!

Real Sociedad secured their place in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 with a decisive 0-2 victory over SD Ponferradina, thanks to goals from Oyarzabal and Brais Méndez.

In a tightly contested first half, Real sought to attack through the wings and came close with efforts from Olasagasti and long-range strikes by Oyarzabal and Sergio Gómez, which tested goalkeeper Ángel. Ponferradina, dangerous on the counter, also managed a few threatening attacks.

The second half started well for Real Sociedad. Oyarzabal broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, slotting home after a misclearance from the Ponferradina defense. Brais Méndez doubled the lead in the 69th minute, finishing off a pinpoint pass from Oyarzabal. Marrero’s saves ensured Ponferradina couldn’t find a late goal to threaten Real Sociedad’s lead.

A solid second-half performance ensured Real Sociedad's pass to the next round. The draw will take place on Wednesday. We are Real.
