Real Sociedad secured a crucial 3–1 victory on their visit to UD Las Palmas, taking an important step forward in the fight for European spots. Goals from Oyarzabal, Sergio Gómez, and Aramburu strengthened Imanol’s side in their push toward their objective.
The match kicked off at a furious pace. Las Palmas had the first clear chance with a shot from Fabio Silva, but Remiro, outstanding once again, pulled off a great save. Just minutes later, La Real struck first—Barrenetxea tried his luck from distance, and Oyarzabal was quick to pounce on the rebound to put his team ahead. Barrenetxea came close to scoring again soon after, but this time the keeper was up to the task. In the final stretch of the first half, Las Palmas pushed hard and created several good chances to equalize—most notably a shot off the crossbar by Fabio Silva and a one-on-one that McBurnie couldn’t convert thanks to another fine save from Remiro.
After the break, despite Las Palmas maintaining the pressure, Real doubled their lead with a clinical counterattack finished by Sergio Gómez. The hosts responded quickly and pulled one back, keeping the game alive. Pablo Marín had a golden chance to make it 3–1, but couldn’t beat Horkas in a one-on-one. Almost immediately after, Aramburu took advantage of a long throw-in to score the third and put the match to bed. In stoppage time, Óskarsson came close to adding a fourth, but his shot struck the post.
A second consecutive win for the txuri urdin, who remain fully in the race for Europe. Now, a full week to prepare—and next up, Mallorca. We are Real.
