What a relief! Real finally tastes victory. Tonight, Real rallied back from one goal down to defeat RCD Espanyol 2-1. Willian José and Isak sealed the first txuri urdin win on the return of the competition.
Willian José scored in the 8th minute but his goal was disallowed. Moments after, David Lopez instead put RCD Espanyol ahead. However, Real made the brighter start with some fluent attacking play. Llorente’s header hit the post after Januzaj’s flag kick. Before the break, the Belgian had to be substituted due to injury.
Willian José had his goal in the 55th minute and Real had their equalizer. With a little more than 30 minutes remaining, the txuri urdin dominated the match until the final whistle but were unable to put their chances away. The best chances fell to Monreal and Isak but their shots were denied by Espanyol goalkeeper. In the 84th minute, Isak sealed the win with a superb left-footed strike.
This is a very important victory. Real end their winless run and depends on themselves to achieve their objective. If they continue to play like this, they will be closer to achieving it. On Monday, Real will face Levante. Aupa Real!
