Atotxa opening

October 5, 1913 is a date to remember in Real Sociedad’s history. On that day, our home during 80 years was inaugurated. During that period, successive refurbishments were undertaken in the stadium.  To celebrate the opening, Real Sociedad faced Athletic de Bilbao. Real Sociedad’s XI was: Eizaguirre, Berraondo, Mariano Arrate, Leturia, Echeverría, Machimbarrena, M. Elósegui, Alfonso Sena, S. Elósegui, Sydler and J. Minondo. Athletic starting line-up was: Ibarreche, Solaun, Hurtado, Eguía, J.Mª Belauste, Iceta, Pinillos, Kortadi, Zuazo, R. Belauste and Pichichi. His was the first official goal in the history of the Atoxa stadium. The match ended in a 3-3 draw. Our players Saturnino Elósegui and Sydler scored one goal and a brace. On their behalf, Athletic player Pichichi scored a brace and Zuazo one goal.
