On to the second round

Real Sociedad advanced to the second round of the Copa del Rey after a 3–0 victory tonight in Negreira. Goals from Goti, Zakharyan, and Turrientes put the txuri-urdin into the next round of the knockout competition.

The visitors could have taken an early lead through Goti, who converted a pass from Sadiq, and he also came close again when his effort struck the woodwork. The home team remained competitive and active but could not find a way past Marrero. During the second half, in heavy rain, Real Sociedad increased their lead with a left-footed goal from Zakharyan, followed by another left-footed finish from Turrientes. The txuri-urdin fulfilled their task and move on to the next stage. Next challenge: the derby.
