This afternoon, Roberto Olabe was awarded Real Sociedad’s highest honor—the Gold and Diamond Badge—in a heartfelt ceremony at the Reale Arena auditorium. The event gathered board members, coaching staff from Zubieta, club employees, and the recently returned Sanse squad from Mérida to pay tribute to his invaluable contribution to the club. The Gasteiz-born director received the club’s highest honor from President Jokin Aperribay.
Olabe expressed his gratitude to everyone he had the privilege of working with over the years and encouraged the Zubieta team to “keep working and keep asking questions.” He also called on the club’s leadership to “never stop giving opportunities.” President Jokin Aperribay, reflecting on their journey together, said: “I will never forget you, and neither will Real Sociedad.”
Last week, the goalkeeping coaches at Zubieta surprised Olabe with a commemorative shirt and gathered for a photo to mark the occasion. Eskerrik asko, Roberto, for everything, and best of luck in the future.
